FORCES CONFUSES<\/strong> I<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exposition \u00e0 la Galerie Le Garage, Ramatuelle, du 25 ao\u00fbt au 11 septembre 2022<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur la place de l\u2019ormeau \u00e0 Ramatuelle se dresse depuis 1985 un olivier maintenant presque centenaire. Je connais cet arbre depuis qu\u2019il a \u00e9t\u00e9 plant\u00e9 mais je m\u2019y suis int\u00e9ress\u00e9 davantage \u00e0 partir de 2015, un peu par hasard. J\u2019ai en effet retrouv\u00e9 \u00e0 ce moment deux photographies prises par mon p\u00e8re, qui montrent l\u2019enfant que j\u2019\u00e9tais en 1966 \u00e0 Ramatuelle dans et devant\u2026 un ormeau qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9 par cet olivier. C\u2019\u00e9tait un arbre creux alors terrain de jeu familier, et la vie du village s\u2019organisait autour de lui. Il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 plant\u00e9 vers 1598 sous Henri IV sur recommandation de Sully, et tr\u00f4nait sur la place comme symbole de tol\u00e9rance et de libert\u00e9 depuis la fin des guerres de religion. Il est mort de la graphiose comme la quasi-totalit\u00e9 des ormeaux au XXe si\u00e8cle, puis a \u00e9t\u00e9 abattu en 1983.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 chaque retour \u00e0 Ramatuelle, son image r\u00e9miniscente se superpose \u00e0 celle de l\u2019olivier, qui se trouve aujourd\u2019hui encore devant le Caf\u00e9 de l\u2019ormeau sur la place de l\u2019ormeau, jamais renomm\u00e9s. Dans l\u2019olivier vit la m\u00e9moire de l\u2019arbre disparu. Depuis 2015, cette s\u00e9dimentation de la m\u00e9moire provoqu\u00e9e par les deux photographies de 1966 m\u2019a conduit \u00e0 rassembler les \u00e9l\u00e9ments de ma propre histoire et \u00e0 enqu\u00eater sur celle du monumental ormeau disparu. J\u2019ai r\u00e9uni de nombreux documents et t\u00e9moignages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entre r\u00e9alit\u00e9 et fiction, la s\u00e9rie de dessins pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e dans cette exposition propose un portrait transtemporel de\u00a0l\u2019ormolivier,\u00a0un arbre imaginaire cr\u00e9\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de l\u2019ormeau et de l\u2019olivier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Place de l’Ormeau in Ramatuelle stands since 1985 an olive tree that is now almost a hundred years old. I have known this tree since it was planted, but I became more interested in it in 2015, somewhat by chance. At that time, I found two photographs taken by my father, which show the child I was in 1966 in Ramatuelle in and in front of… an elm tree which has been replaced by this olive tree. It was a hollow tree, then a familiar playground, and village life was organised around it. It was planted in about 1598 under Henri IV on the recommendation of Sully; it has stood on the square as a symbol of tolerance and freedom since the end of the French Religion Wars. It died of graphiosis like almost all the elms in the 20th century, and was felled in 1983.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every time I go back to Ramatuelle, its reminiscent image is superimposed by the one of the olive tree, which is still standing today in front of the Caf\u00e9 de l’Ormeau on the Place de l’Ormeau, both never having been renamed. In the olive tree lives the memory of the disappeared tree. Since 2015, this sedimentation of memory caused by the two photographs of 1966 has led me to gather the elements of my own history and to investigate the one of the monumental disappeared elm tree. I gathered numerous documents and testimonies. <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between reality and fiction, the series of drawings featured in this exhibition offers a transtemporal portrait of the ormolive tree, an imaginary tree created from the elm tree and the olive tree. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
